Martha's Vineyard Simplicity

VINEYARD HAVEN, MASSACHUSSETTS

This Martha's Vineyard vacation home overlooking the harbor was once owned by Mike Wallace and his family.  When the new owners purchased the property it was in disrepair. The entire interior was gutted and rebuilt using the same footprint as the original house. The owners wanted the interior to have a shaker-like simplicity composed of muted tones of grey and white with splashes of green, a reflection of the landscape around them on the oceanfront property.  The spaces were designed to be intimate and inviting when just the immediate family is occupying the home, but also flexible to accommodate guests when they entertain.  The main house includes the master suite and main living and dining quarters while a separate, adjacent building, joined by a covered courtyard, houses 4 guest bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, a bunk room, a main game room with a kitchenette for entertaining, along with a gym and spa bath on the lower level.  The intention was a beautiful, relaxing home for the couple, with ample space for their three grown daughters, friends and family to comfortably visit.
